Here is an arrangement for five B flat clarinets of Grieg's very well known movement from his Peer Gynt suite, In the Hall of the Mountain King.
It is suitable for young players who are comfortable above the break, although Clarinet 4 remains below the break. The other parts are of equal difficulty, and the work is shared around so that everyone gets to play the tune and also be the goblins and trolls. Nobody has to play the quaver passages alone, so this arrangement is a good confidence builder.
It is a good introduction to playing in an ensemble whilst maintaining a constant accelerando without getting out of control.
